The Squirly Squirrel
Sam and Jessie were walking through the park one day after school. It was a beautiful sunny day and the birds were all chirping.
As they were walking, they stumbled upon a friendly squirrel.
"Hello little squirrel," said Sam
The squirrel just stared at her blankly.
"Want to play?" asked Jessie as she slowly began to approach the squirrel.
The squirrel stared at Sam and Jessie for one more second and then jumped up and excalimed "Why hello, my name is Mr. Scavenger, I have been wandering around this park for many days now looking for a friend to play with, did you want to be that friend?"
Sam and Jessie looked at each other and said "absolutely!"
"Excellent!" said the squirrel, "I have so many great games planned for us, we can roll down the hill, climb trees, sing, dance, and go look for nuts!"
"Well I don't know about looking for nuts, but everything else sounds great!" said Jessie.
The three of them spent the whole afternoon playing in the park, on the trees, and out on the fields. They were having so much fun that they didn't realize how late it was and that it was time for dinner.
"Man I am starving," said Jessie,
"Me too," said Sam,
"Well I have worms and nuts back at my place if you want to hang out for dinner?" ask the squirrel
Sam and Jessie looked at each other with disgust
"ew worms..." said Sam " I would never eat those, why don't you eat something normal?"
"I can't even look at those things!" said Jessie,
"This is normal for us squirrels... is this going to be a problem?" ask the squirrel looking hurt.
Sam and Jessie looked at each other, turned, and said "of course not, we don't care what you eat."
The squirrel started to smile.
"We will always be friends" said Sam.
"Oh yay," said the squirrel, "I am so happy to hear that."
After they ate dinner, the squirrel ate his worms and nuts, while Sam and Jessie just had the nuts, they knew it was time to say goodbye. Sam and Jessie turned to the squirrel and said "it was really great meeting you"
"It was great meeting you too, if you are ever bored you will always have a friend here" said the squirrel
Sam and Jessie gave the squirrel a hug and walked home thinking about how fun their day was with the squirrel and knowing they will never forget it.
