Long ago, even before the invention of Universal Design for Learning, the town of Rigidity decided to have a road race to celebrate the beginning of the Dark Ages.

There were only two contestants - a tortoise and a hare.

The race was right down main street, all the way from the bank to the diner -300 yards on the nose.

After the starting gun went off, the hare jumped into the lead and ran almost all the way down the street before the tortoise had taken two steps.

Eventually the hare got bored and distracted.  He forgot to finish the race.  A year later the tortoise crossed the finish line and won the race.  Nobody noticed.

After the race, the speedy hare was placed in special education for ADHD and was eventually recommended for ritalin.  He stopped racing.

The tortoise, who won, looked so slow and awkward in doing so that he also was placed in special education for physical and occupational therapy.  He never raced again.

The following year the race was cancelled due to lack of interest.
