THE THREE BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT

ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITION, THE POWERS OF THE US GOVERNMENT MUST BE DIVIDED INTO THREE DIFFERENT BRANCHES:

  1. THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH: Includes the President, the Vice President, and all of the cabinet members.
  2. THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH: Congress includes all of the Representatives and Senators from each state.
  3. The JUDICIAL BRANCH: Includes the federal court system

PRESIDENTIAL DUTIES :

Head of State

Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces

Make agreements with foreign nations

Appoint U.S. officials

Create and enforce laws
 

 

TO BECOME PRESIDENT YOU HAVE TO...

Be 35+ years old

Be born in the United States

Lived in the United States for at least 14 years

Serve for no more than 2 terms (4 years)

THE JUDICIAL BRANCH


 

THE JUDICIARY IS MADE UP OF A FEDERAL COURT SYSTEM WITH THREE LEVELS:

  1. DISTRICT COURTS-Lowest level
  2. COURT OF APPEALS- 2nd level
  3. SUPREME COURT-Highest court in the land
