One day, when Mom came from work, she brought a big thing with her, called a computer. Ben was really excited about it! He wanted his mother to explain how it worked immediately. Ben's mother, however, was tired.
"Ben", she said, "We can work with the computer tomorrow. I have to make us dinner and after that I need to do some work."
This made Ben a little sad. Now he had to wait a whole night before he could play with the computer.
But Ben was also excited! He wanted to tell his friend Jenny about the new computer! "Can I play outside after dinner for a while?", Ben asked his mother. "Sure you can", she replied. "As long as you are home by eight."
As promised, Ben could play outside for a while after dinner. After a few minutes, Jenny, one of his friends, joined him. "Hi Ben, I had pancakes for dinner!", Jenny said. "Guess what", said Ben, "I have to tell you something really cool!" And Ben told Jenny about the new computer that Mom brought home today.
"How does it work?", Jenny asked. "I have no idea", Ben replied. "Mom said she is going to show it to me tomorrow." Jenny and Ben both thought the same: tomorrow..that will take so long!
"I have an idea!", Jenny said. "We could work with the computer tonight...without telling your Mom. We just have to keep it secret." Although Ben knew his mother would not like this, he was also very excited to use the computer tonight. He stood still for a minute and thought about it. His Mom would never know about it if he used to computer while she was asleep. Therefore Ben agreed.
"I meet you at midnight", Jenny said. "This is going to be awesome!"
At eight, Ben came home. He took a shower, and his mother tucked him in. "Goodnight Ben", she said. And she went downstairs. Ben, however, decided not to go to dreamland, but stayed awake until it was midnight.
Then Ben put some clothes on and went downstairs to open the door for Jenny. The big adventure was about to begin!
Both Jenny and Ben had a bad feeling about this. They knew that Ben's mother would not agree with what they were doing. Jenny and Ben were tired too, but also excited. Jenny and Ben went to the computer. "And now..?", Jenny asked. "Let's turn it on and see what happens", Ben said. He pushed the button...and the whole screen lit up instantly....!! What was going on? Both Ben and Jenny were surprised.
