Foreward

This story was created by the minds of my three little cousins. I directed them through the entire creation process, and then corrected their spelling errors.

Austin is a fifth grader who loves playing Nintendo Wii and reading good books. Brooke is a fourth grader who loves telling stories and making enormous palm trees out of paper. Luke is a first grader, and he loves his siblings, his dog, and above all, legos. I am in the seventeenth grade and I loved listening to my cousins fight over everthing that was (and was not) included in this story.

We hope you have as much fun reading "A Pug's Life" as we did creating it!

Puggo is no ordinary pug. Puggo's life began as a bar of soap.

This adventure began when Franky saw puggo in the beauty aisle of the grocery store. She begged and begged her mom for a bar of "Puggo Soap".

Her mom said yes, and Franky was delighted to take Puggo to her house in Cobleskill, NY. There was snow on the ground, and Franky looked forward to using her new soap in a nice bubble bath.

Once Puggo hit the water, something magical happened. The bar of soap that was Puggo became a real dog. Best of all, the dog could talk.

"Whaaaazzzzzup," said Puggo to Franky.

Franky was scared out of her mind, and in her terror, she pushed Puggo down the drain.

Franky's mom came running upstairs to see what all the commotion was about.

Franky tried to tell her that the Puggo Soap had turned into a real dog, but she didn't believe Franky and went back downstairs.

Now Franky had no soap and no Puggo. She wondered if she and Puggo could have become friends. With no more Puggo, she was sad.

Little did she know....she had not seen the last of her soapy almost-friend!

Puggo goes down the drain

Like all dogs...and like all soap...Puggo could swim.

Puggo went through the drain, through the pipes, through the sewers, and into a world where everything was smelly, ratty, green, and gross. Puggo was not happy.

He wondered if Franky had really not liked him. He wondered if Franky would have been his friend.

The first thing that Puggo saw in the land where everything smelled was a big giant rat.

Puggo asked the rat, "Have you ever been friends with a human?"

The rat replied, "No. All humans are mean. They don't like rats like me."

Puggo did not believe the rat and kept moving through the drains, through the pipes, and through the sewers.  Puggo was not happy.

After traveling miles and miles, Puggo finally came across another creature in the land where everything smells. It was an alligator.

"Hello," said the alligator, "what is a dog doing in my sewer?"

"My almost-friend named Franky sent me down the drain," replied Puggo. "I don't think she meant to, and I hope I get to see her again."

"You won't get to see her again, because I'm going to eat you right now!"

"You can't eat me.... I ought to wash your mouth out with soap!" yelled Puggo.

The alligator tried to eat Puggo, but Puggo slipped away by jumping on a sailboat made of toilet paper.

"That was close," Puggo sighed. "I wonder if I'll ever see my almost-friend Franky again."

Puggo was not happy as he sailed deeper into the dark sewer.

Meanwhile, above ground, Franky thought about how much more fun the family trip to the beach would have been if Puggo could have come.

Puggo encounters Ninja Turtles

When it seemed like the sewer could get no darker and no smellier, suddenly the most frightening sight of all appeared--The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!!!

All four Ninja Turtles surrounded Puggo and yelled, "Get out of our lair, fool!"

Puggo was ready for a fight.

Franky on her road trip missing Puggo
Franky had also been traveling for quite some time. As she arrived at the beach, she had no idea that her almost-friend Puggo was fighting the Ninja turtles under the manholes that she was passing over in her car.

While Franky was counting manholes, Puggo was getting bounced off the walls by four heroes-in-a-half-shell.

Leonardo karate kicked Puggo.

Donatello threw rats at Puggo.

Michealangelo made fun of Puggo by flapping his arms all over the smelly sewer.

Raphael threw Puggo against a ladder.

Puggo saw the chance to escape the smelly sewer, that was full of rats, alligators, ninja turtles, and where no Franky's could be found.  But, with the Ninja turtles nipping at his heels, Puggo was still not happy.

Franky in flip flops crossing road

Franky crossed the street with her flip flops on. She was excited about the beach, but not as excited as she would have been had Puggo been with her.

In the middle of the street she heard the strangest noise coming from a manhole.

"Bark, Bark, Bark", said Puggo from underneath the manhole.

Franky recognized the bark immediately.

"Puggo?!" she yelled.

Franky jerked the manhole off the ground and saw Puggo standing on a ladder above four snapping ninja turtles.

"Franky?!" Puggo yelled! "Are you my almost-friend?"

"No," said Franky, "I'm your best friend."

Puggo jumped out of the sewer and into Franky's arms. Just before they had the best day ever on the beach, Puggo looked back into the sewer and yelled at the rat, the alligator, and the ninja turtles, "YOU GUYS STINK!"

Puggo was finally happy.

 THE END.
