Will wanted to play basketball with Jackie and her friends. “Can I play?” he asked.
“No, you're too little. Go swing,” said Jackie.

Will walked away. He saw an old tennis ball. He bounced it for a while, and then got bored. He still wanted to play basketball.

Will walked by the basketball court. Jackie was playing a game of two-on-two with three other friends. He called out, “Can I play?”
Jackie yelled back, “We don't need you. Go on the jungle gym!”
