What are Windmillls?      

      A building with sails or vanes that turn in the wind and generate power. There is no exact date telling us when They were invented but the idea of using wind for power has been around since ancient times. A windmill can be used for a variety of things and be a source or energy that does not harm the environment and is free. Windmills can look very different and vary between location, but they all do the same thing. 



What are Post Mills?


This windmills body contains the gearing, millstones, and machinery and carrying the sails. It is mounted on a well-supported wooden post socketed into a horizontal beam on the level of the second floor of the mill body. On this it can be turned so that the sails can be faced into the wind.



What are Smock Mills?


      This windmill Instead of rotating the whole body of the mill to face the mill, the smock mill design consists of a fixed wooden body, holding the milling machinery, together with a rotatable cap, which holds just the roof, the sails, the windshaft and the brake wheel.



What are Tower Mills?


      This windmill has a movable top, or cap, which carries the sails and can be turned around on a track, or curb, on top of the tower.
