Mac is going to teach us about our digital footprint trail and safety rules.

Hi, my name is Mac.

I am a computer.

I am going to teach you about digital footprints.

This is a picture of a person's footprints in the sand.
These footprints in the sand can be erased, your digital footprint trail lasts FORVER!

When I am on the Internet , the whole world can see my digital footprints.

If I am not careful, my footprint trail could hurt me.

This is a picture of a cookie near a cookie jar with crumbs.
When you go on the Internet you leave a trail, just like you would leave a crumb trail if you were eating a cookie.

These footprints are like eating a cookie and leaving a crumb trail for people to follow.

When I go on the Internet, I leave a trail of information about me.

This is a picture of an eye looking at the world through a magnifying glass.
The whole world can see what you do when you are on the Internet.

When I go on the Internet , the whole world can see where I have been.

When I play a video game on the Internet , the whole world can see the game I have played.

When I text, the whole world can see who I have texted.

No matter what I do online , the whole world can see.

Ths is a picture of a pencil erasing information.
A digital footprint trail is written in pen and can never be erased!

My trail never goes away.

It can never be thrown away.

It can never be erased.

It can be seen FOREVER!

This is a picture of people around the world.
If you are not careful people around the world can see information about you on the Internet.

Nothing I do on the Internet is private.

Anything I do online can be seen and copied by the whole world.

The information people learn about me could hurt me later on.

I NEED TO STAY SAFE!

This is a picture of a top secret button on a key board.
Make sure you keep all of your personal information TOP SECRET.

To make sure my trail is safe, I should NEVER give out my personal information.

I will NEVER tell anyone my name. Then no one will know who I am.

I will NEVER give out my home address. Then no one will know where I live.

I will NEVER tell people my phone number. Then no one can call me.

I NEED TO STAY SAFE!

This is a picture of the Internet collecting information from you.
The Internet collects any information it can from you for your digital trail.

I will NEVER put my picture online. Then no one knows what I look like.

I will NEVER tell people where I go to school. Then no one can visit me at school.

If people don't have these facts, they cannot find me.

I need to stay safe!

This is a picture of Cole and his dad at the computer.
My friend Cole is getting permission to use the Internet from his dad.

Before I go on the Internet, I always ask a trusted adult for permission.

I don't talk to strangers online.

I only talk with people I know.

I always ask myself, “Would my parents and teachers say it is OK for me to share this?”

I NEED TO STAY SAFE!

This is a boy holding a stop sign.
Stop and remember to follow the safety rules!

I learned to keep my digital trail safe!

I need to stay safe!

You can stay safe too.

 Follow my safety rules!
