My Lemonade Stand

Sally wants to buy a new bicycle. The bicycle that Sally wants costs seventy dollars, but Sally only has ten dollars .

Sally decides to open up a lemonade stand to acquire the money for her new bike. She gets a recipe from her mom to make the lemonade. The recipe says that Sally needs three quarters of a cup of sugar, one cup of water, one cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice and three cups of ice cold water. Once she has all of these items she can stir them together in a pitcher

Now that Sally has her lemonade made she can set up her stand. She decides to charge fifty cents per cup of lemonade. In the first hour Sally sells five cups of lemonade! As the day goes on more and more people show up. By the end of the day Sally is exhausted, but she sold forty cups of lemonade.

Sally is so excited that her lemonade stand is doing so well! Today she is hoping to double the amount of money she made yesterday. As Sally sets up her stand she feels a rain drop hit her head.

The next day Sally is determined to make enough money to buy her new bicycle. She sets up her stand and waits. After only a few minutes people start arriving and then more people. Sally now has a line down the block of people that want her lemonade!

Sally totals up her money from today and counts fifty-two dollars and fifty cents. When she adds that to the twenty dollars from two days ago and the ten dollars she already had, she has more than enough money to buy her new bicycle! Sally is so thrilled that her mom takes her to the store and they bring home her new bike.
