A long way out in the deep blue sea there lived a fish. Not just an ordinary fish, but the most beautiful fish in the entire ocean. His scales were every shade of blue and green and purple, and orange. He was known as a rainbow fish.

The Rainbow fish always wanted to play with the other fish. But whenever he asked them to play they would always say "No way! We don't play with fish who have rainbow scales." So the Rainbow fish would just frown and swim away.

Since the other fish wouldn't be friends with the rainbow fish, he started looking for other sea creatures to be friends with. But when he found an octopus, all he said was "Leave me alone, I'm too old to be friends with a young fish like you."

The rainbow fish started to become desperate to find a friend. So desperate, that he tried to be friends with a mean crab that he swam by, but he was crabby and didn't want anything to do with the rainbow fish.

After working so hard and searching everywhere, still no one wanted to be rainbow fish's friend. So he decided to swim away from home and just keep swimming until he couldn't anymore.

Then finally, one day rainbow fish met another fish, she looked just like him except she didn't have rainbow scales, her name was Violet. She was so nice to him and asked him to play with her, and of course he said "yes!" The rainbow fish was so happy that he decided to stay with Violet. Violet showed rainbow fish that there is a friend out there for everyone!
