Once upon a time there lived a baby calf named Jumba. He lived in the very dry, and hot Nairobi desert.

Jumba loved to play! His most favorite place to play was in the mud hole, especially on very hot days.

But playing in the mud hole was just not enough forJumba. He always wanted to travel around the world. He shared this dream with his best friend Naomi, the beautiful white heron.

One day as they were playing in the fields of Kenya, Jumba had a sudden thought. "Lets go today!" he said. "That's a great idea", Naomi replied, "let's go". And the two friends set off on their journey  across the open plains for their trip around the world.

As they were walking along through the grassland, Jumba and Naomi thought of all the places they would see along thier journey. They would visit France, China, Australia, America, and so many other places. Suddenly they heard a rustling in the tree above them. They looked up only to find a cheetah sleeping precariously on a branch. Quickly and quietly they rushed past the tree leaving the cheetah sleeping soundly on his branch.

Relieved  that they had made it past the cheetah without waking him up the two friends continued on their journey around the world. This time they were thinking about all the different kinds of great food they would eat. There would be many exotic bugs, grasses, and fruits. "I've heard that the water in other places is as clear as the sky", said Jumba. "I've never heard of such a thing. I can't wait to see it myself", answered Naomi. Just when they thought they were safe they noticed a lion waiting in the tall grass, hunting for his dinner.

The lion started to creep toward Jumba and Naomi when all of a sudden a huge creature appeared from behind. It was yellow with brown and white spots all over, it had long legs and a really long neck, and it was running right toward the lion. He turned around quickly and ran off just in time to miss being run over. Just then, it changed directions and came right for Jumba and Naomi.

It was their friend Geoffrey!

"Geoffrey!" Jumba and Naomi shouted. "You saved us and scared us at the same time!"

"Sorry guys. I just saw you over here and I decided to come and say hi," said Geoffrey. "Where are you guys going?"

"We're going on an adventure, traveling the world," Jumba said excitedly.

"Well if I were you I'd wait until tomorrow because there is a storm brewing as we speak," Geoffrey said. "You'd better go home before you get soaked!"

Naomi and Jumba looked at each other and hung their heads. They decided to turn around and go home.

So they ran...past the lion who was now running from the storm.

Past the cheetah, who was now alert and finding shelter from the storm too.

They ran through the grasslands toward home.

And safely into the trunk of his mom!

"I'm sorry that we didn't make it around the world today," Jumba apologized.

"Don't worry about it. We'll try again tomorrow!" replied Naomi cheerfully.

The End!
