There once was a man named Geppetto. He was a carpenter. He built a wooden puppet to be his son. Once he finished the puppet, the puppet began to talk! "Hello there, my name is Pinocchio!"

This is a picture of the puppet boy, Pinocchio, walking down a street.

The next day Pinocchio went to school. On his way to school he saw a puppet show. He thought to himself "I can dance way better than they can." He joined the puppet show and began earning money. Pinocchio would say he was going to school everyday, but was really performing in the puppet show to earn money.

The image is of the wooden puppet boy next to a fairy. His nose is very long from lying.

On Pinocchio's way home from performing at his puppet show a fairy stopped him. She said "Pinocchio where have you been today?" Pinocchio said "I have been at school." Just like that his nose began to grow bigger! The fairy said "Pinocchio if you want to become a real boy you must tell the truth." Pinocchio said "I was at school!" His nose grew even bigger!

This image is of Pinocchio's dad looking at him sitting with his head down.

Pinocchio went home to his dad, Geppetto. His dad gave him a big hug and said "Pinocchio, what happened to your nose?" Pinocchio said "What? Nothing happened to my nose." His nose grew even bigger! Gepetto said "well if you say so, you are my son and I can trust you." Pinocchio began to feel guilty.

The image is of a real boy. Pinocchio transformed from a puppet to a real boy for being honest.

Pinocchio wanted to become a real boy more than anything. He quit performing at the puppet show and went to school. He went home from school that night and said to his dad, "I am so sorry, I wasn't telling the truth before, I was performing in the puppet show and not going to school. I quit though, and I went to school today. I will never lie again. I am so sorry dad!" Geppetto exclaimed "That hurts my feelings Pinocchio, please never do that again, I accept your apology." Just like that Pinocchio's nose went back to normal and he transformed into a real boy!
