Time For Pinky Bird To Fly

Written By: Sabrena Varner

It was a sunny day on the island of Pinkville and Pinky the bird was sitting in a tree daydreaming. I noticed that Pinky was very sad because she could not fly.

I asked Pinky what could I do to help her fly. She looked away and said I'm afraid of learning how to fly. Together Pinky and I came up with a plan to find the best way to overcome her fear.

The first step was to get Pinky to accept that she can accomplish anything. Then we decided to try a variety of activities to help her. Pinky started to climb high places and run around the island flapping her wings to build up her strength. Practice lasted about two weeks and Pinky decided to practice on her own one afternoon.

When Pinky practiced on that warm afternoon on the island she felt proud because she was able to soar in the sky like the other birds. I can remember that moment because it was the day I looked up in the sky and saw Pinky flying so happy. When Pinky landed on the ground she thanked me for believing in her and gave me a good-bye present. Pinky had to fly with her family to another island. In the air she shouted I have to go but I will always remember you.
