Pumpkins are plants. They belong to the gourd family.



 In the spring, farmers plant pumpkin seeds. Pumpkin plants need lots of room to grow.


Pumpkins are vines.


The pumpkin flower is yellow and has five petals.


 

Pumpkins have female flowers and male flowers.



Bees are important to pumpkins.


 

Soon, the flower rots away and the pumpkin grows bigger.



 

In the fall, pumpkins are ripe and ready to be picked.



Pumpkin pancakes are a treat!


Roasted pumpkin seeds are hard to beat.


Try pumpkin pie, it's so neat!
