Hawai'i is made up of many different cultures from around the world. There are so many delicious types of food to choose from!


Hawaiian 

Traditional Hawaiian food has Lau lau, Squid Luau, Kalua Pig, Chicken Long Rice, Lomi Salmon, Poi, and Haupia. That's a lot of food!







Filipino

Pancit is a type of noodle dish filled with vegetables, meat, and other ingredients. It's quick to make and always made on special occasions.



Japanese

Mochi is a Japanese rice cake that is eaten in soups or as a dessert. You can eat it with ice cream and shave ice, or just by itself.





Chinese

Mooncake is a pastry filled with red bean or lotus seed paste. It is made and offered to friends and family during Chinese festivals. 



Korean

Bibimbap is a bowl of rice topped with various vegetables, sliced beef, chili pepper paste, and a fried egg. Korean food is served with more vegetables as a side dish.







Vietnamese

Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup. It has rice noodles, meat, onions, bean sprouts, and herbs such as basil and mint. It has a special sweet broth made from different spices.





Samoan

Pani Popo is traditional coconut sweet bread. They look like regular buns and are baked in a pool of creamy coconut milk.




With so many different kinds of foods, you can create a Hawaiian luau! Yummmmy!
