Healthy Choices

Many children come from families that don't make healthy choices.  Sometimes the families can't afford  to buy healthier food.  Other times Moms and Dads don't know what healthier options are available.  



Breakfast

Most children would choose to eat cold cereal in the morning.  A lot of Moms and Dads purchase cold cereal that tastes great but is high in sugar.  

A better option would be plain oatmeal with fresh fruit, vanilla extract, agave nectar  and a dash of cinnamon.  



Lunch

Pizza is a favorite for most children.  It's cheesy, gooey and tastes great!  Even though it's a fan favorite, pizza isn't the healthiest option around.  

A better option would be a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread with mustard, lettuce tomato and an apple on the side.  




Dinner

Spaghetti and Meatballs is an all time favorite among people young and old.  Kids love it because it's fun to eat.  Moms love it because it's quick and easy to make.  

A Helthier option would be grilled chicken with a side of veggies like broccoli or spinach.  


I hope after reading this story, you will begin to make healthier choices at each meal.  It's okay to have the great tasting stuff every once in a while, but it's important to choose the good-for-you foods the majority  of the time.
