The Lion and the Mouse

An Aesop's Fable

Adapted by Rachel Dowda

There was once a lion, who decided it was time for a nap. While he was sleeping, a little mouse decided to climb on top of him and run around, to show his friends how brave he was. All of a sudden, the lion woke up.

The lion grabbed the mouse, opened his mouth, and was about to eat him when the mouse shouted,

" Oh King Lion! Please forgive me! I will never forget about it, and someday, maybe I will be able to help you in return!"

The lion thought the idea was so funny, that he let the mouse go!

A few weeks later, the lion accidentally walked straight into a trap set out by a team of hunters.

The hunters needed help carrying such a big lion away, so they went to get some help, leaving the lion tied to a tree.

All of a sudden, the little mouse walked by!

When the mouse saw the lion, he came up and chewed through the rope, setting him free!

"I told you I would help you!" said the mouse.
