Evernote is a free note taking app that allows you to do more than just take notes. It can be accessed from any device, which makes it extremely accessbile for students and easy to keep everything synced because it is automatic.

Evernote allows students to take pictures and recordings that can be saved, which helps add to their notes.

Evernote allows students to save webpages as favourites, so they do not forget where they found certain information and it makes it easy to go back to them.

Evernote enhances research because it is able to do all this and makes it easy to combine information from notes, pictures and websites.

Evernote allows students to share their notes with others, like classmates, so they can work on a project or help each other study.

Evernote allows students to stay more organized because everything is in one place.

Evernote and Education:

Technology is becoming increasingly important and integral to the classroom environment in schools. Many students are now using tablets, smartphones and laptops to take notes in the classroom. Evernote is a great tool for them to do so. Teachers should encourage students to use Evernote because of all the different options it allows.

For students who have organizational problems, Evernote is a great tool because it allows them to have everything in one place. It can also be accessed from any device so they do not have to worry about keeping track of notes or finding them if they lose them because they will always be available.

It is also helpful for students who are audible learners because they can take audio recordings. With the teachers permission, they could record lessons instead of taking notes and listen to them later. This is great way for students with limited reading and writing skills because they can learn the information orally.

Evernote can also be useful for students who learn better visually because it allows them to take pictures. The student can take pictures of diagrams and other photos a teacher uses in accompaniment to their notes, so the student has those as a reference to add to their learning experience.

Inklewriter:

Web Address: http://www.inklestudios.com/inklewriter

Age Restriction: none

Inklewriter is a free web 2.0 tool that allows students to write interactive tales. It is a free tool that is great for teachers and students because it allows them to learn both technological and writing skills at the same time

Inklwriter allows students to focus just on the story because it keeps the story organized, so the students just have to focus on content.

It allows students to create interactive stories like "choose your own adventure" tales. It lets you branch the story and helps you link it back together and keeps track of which parts are finished and which are not.

It is an easy to use program that keeps students focused on the task at hand because they do not have to worry about how to use complicated technology.

It allows for sharing the story after it is finished, so it can be shared with the teacher and other students in the class.

Inklewriter and Education:

Inklewriter could be a great tool for English teachers. It would work well in a lesson on creative writing. It would teach both creative writing and technological skills when the students use it. It is also a fun program for them to use that would engage them and make them more interested in the learning because they have to actively participate.

Inklewriter can be great for both students who like to work individually, or collaboratively. It gives the students the option of whether they want to create a story on their own, or with another person or small group.

Inklewriter can be helpful for students with organizational problems in general, or if they have a problem connecting ideas in writing because it helps students do that. It links ideas back to the main story and lets students know what they have finished and what still needs work.

Inklewriter is great for students who have a hard time staying focused. It helps keep students stay on track and only focus on the content because it is such an easy to use program. As well, it is a more engaging and creative way for students to write than staring at a blank sheet of paper, so this will allow the student to focus more on the task at hand, because they will be more interested in it.

Slidely:

Web Address: http://slide.ly

Age Restriction: none

Slidely is a free web 2.0 tool that allows students to create slideshows. It is like a version of powerpoint with more creativity and freedom available to students.

Students can use photos from online or their own personal photos in the creation of slideshows.

They can add text to the pictures.

Students can put music to their slideshows, so that they are more like videos than a slideshow presentation.

Slidely is easy and fun to use, which means students will more likely want to work with it rather than the same old powerpoint presentations they are used to.

Slidely can then be shared with the teahcer and class.

Slidely and Education:

Slidely can be used in education as a substitution for powerpoint. Instead of making a powerpoint slideshow, students can make a slidely slideshow.

Slidely is a great tool for visual learners. Instead of just using the coloured backgrounds in powerpoint, they can use pictures that relate to the content. There are also more choices in transitions than with powerpoint and the end slideshow presentation will look more visually engaging and appealing than a powerpoint presentation.

Slidely is also good for students who are musically inclined because it allows them to pair music with their photos and text. This might help them learn the information better because it is paired to music, which could make it easier for them to remember the content.

Slidely is like a more artistic version of powerpoint. The end product is almost like a music video. This can be a good learning tool for students who are more creative and artistic because it becomes an outlet for their skills and strengths. It would also keep them more engaged in their work because of this.
