Prezi is the first tool we are going to look at. Prezi can be found at prezi.com. On prezi.com you can create your own account and begin making your very own prezi presentation. Prezi is an online software that allows you to create online interactive presentations with a digital story. You can customize the theme and add text, pictures, videos, and links to other sites you want to use in your presentation. Prezi is a great tool for students because it allows students to create presentations in a different format from the basic poster or PowerPoint style. It’s another great option that allows students to expand different ways and ideas of how they can demonstrate their knowledge. Prezi is also great because for students who have troubles writing, or being artistic on paper. They are able to show their knowledge and skills in a way that they are confident and comfortable with. Prezi is very user friendly and can be used by such a variety of people from middle school students all the way to professionals in the workplace.
The next tool we are going to look at is “Doorway Online”. Doorway can be found at http://www.doorwayonline.org.uk/. Doorway is an online tool that looks at literacy, numbers, time, money and much more. It allows interactive learning with the students while providing visual and audio aids for them to learn and follow along with. One example of how this tool can be used in the classroom is for learning to write letters of the alphabet. The students can select which letters they want to learn how to write and they can follow along and use the program to also do it themselves. This tool is great because if you have students with a hearing impairment than they can read the instructions and follow along comfortably. It is also great because each student can learn at their own pace taking more or less time with certain letters or numbers. This tool can be used for elementary students in developing their basic skills such as numbers, letters, and telling time.
The third and final tool we are going to look at is iStudiez Lite. iStudiez Lite is an app for the iPad or iPhone that can be found at itunes.com. This is a free app for students that allow them to be an organized successful student. The app includes schedule, calendar, and a homework and daily planner. This app is wonderful for students who struggle with organization on a daily basis as it allows them to input everything that needs to be done, as well as set reminders to ensure that everything is done and handed in on time. Also many students have iPods or iPhones with them at all times so they can check it whenever they need to or share it with their friends if they missed a day of school. The best part about this app is that it can be used by any student or teacher no matter what age, most children are introduced to apple products very early, and it is accessible and free to such a variety of people.
