WInter Games
2014
Sugarloaf, Maine
A Special Olympics Adventure
We raced at Titcomb Mountain against teams from Franklin County. We raced with friends from schools close by.
The weather was cold but we had nice snow to race on.
On January 27th and 28th we went to Sugarloaf Mountain. Opening ceremonies were at noon. We lined up for the Parade of Athletes. We were excited to be at the Special Olympics Winter Games.
The weather had been below zero over the weekend but warmed up so we did not need the hand and foot warmers when we skied.
Every time we went out to ski, it started to snow. That was ok, because we had a great time racing.
The sun was out for day two but the temperature dropped. We only competed in one race since it was so cold and the wind blew so hard.
Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt . (Special Olympics Oath)
Not everyone got a medal but everyone was "Brave in the Attempt ." The athletes worked hard to compete in Maine's state games. Some athletes may go on to international competetion . Our athletes have a life long activity to enjoy in the great outdoors of Maine.
