CLASSROOM INFORMATION, METHODS AND IDEAS FOR STUDENT HELP TOOLS

Screenchomp!
Purpose: Teachers can talk to students outside of the classroom, anywhere. It has a whiteboard, markers and background to have any image to write on. Record on-the-go tutorials with full audio and send them home with students by going to screenchomp.com and pasting the link to his blog/webpage for student use. For students that still cannot understand the problem and are stuck or ready to give up, the student can post their problem on screenchomp and send the link to his classmates for assistance. If one of the children can help the troubled out they can also post a video and send it back to the student to show steps on getting through the problem. This creates a networking for children and their teachers to better understand class material.

Educative: The reason for using this tool for educative purposes is because the teacher cannot be physically with the students 24/7. With this app they are able to assist students with personal problems with subject material. This gives children more attempts on trying thei problems out and hopeful to understand through peer and teacher help!

Barriers: This tool may not remove a child's learning barrier because every student may have the same problem. By seeing the problem my students are having I could still address the problem the following day in class. This app will reduce learning because any type of learner may visually, kinestetically, and auditorilly use the app for homework or studying purposes. There can be voice use, always visual representations and possible kinestetic activities for the child to try out in order to "feel" the problem and know how to answer it.

Terms of Service: The Terms or Service for screenchomp has stated "18 years of age, or an emancipated minor, or possess legal parental or guardian consent, and are fully able and competent to enter into the terms, conditions, obligations, affirmations, representations, and warranties set forth in these Terms, and to abide by and comply with these Terms." The app is also available at any time of the day, it will not shut down through certain hours. The website, however, does not regulate with is shared on the website, they still can be reported for misuse though. All content shared is done anonymously without customer ID (in this case for my students, if applicaple they could say their first name and for what class of mine they are doing it for, that way other students can identify with the problem).

Voki

http://www.voki.com/

Purpose: Voki allows you to turn your voice or automated voice into a customized speaking character. Use it in the class for effective auditory learning. Enhance lesson plans or even student work by the touch of a voice for children with comprehension problems.

Education: Educatively, Voki helps with a child's comprehension if they cannot read as fast as other children, you could put what they need, like instructions, in a voiced character and allow them to do the necessary instructions. This tool can also help with student participation. Instead of the teacher constantly talking, have a character teach something or even have it try interacting with the teacher or students.

Barriers: This tool could help reduce a child's problems by getting them to listen more attentively in class that way they are not missing out on peer discussion and lose out on alternative opportunities from other children. Another barrier is a child's reading level, by allowing a help to a child's reading they can understand the subject just by enhancing their listening skills (also could be used as a follow-along).

Terms of Use: As of a child's age for this site the terms of use have expressed, "This site is a general audience site which is neither designed nor intended to collect personal information from children who are under the age of 13...This site is a general audience site which is neither designed nor intended to collect personal information from children who are under the age of 13." All information, documentation or content used through the site is property of the liscencing on the website.

Storybird
Purpose: Illustrate your own story, become an author of your own experience. Digital storymaking through characters, setting, and plots.

Educative: In L.A. class through grades 1-9 children experience different purposes of writing and story creating. They go through many details of a story and try out their own creations on paper. Now they can enhance their story through digital illustrations to reflect their writing process. Another use is for lesson planning, this tool can easily be used for class curriculum needs and school teaching standards. It enhances a child's learning ability through auditory, and visual learning. It could be kinestetic if they like drawing themselves and making it into their story.

Barriers: For children that sturggle strictly with language arts they can help their language out with the arts. By showing me rather than writing to me, I can see where their learning process is at and lets others appreciate their peers' work.

Terms of Service: The tool is forr any child/adult to learn but the terms expresses that, "If you are under the age of 18, you should review this Agreement with your parent or guardian to make sure that you and your parent or guardian understand it." It is a member tool, so your works are secured to the site but can be viewed publicly since they want "more books in the world". If there is a change in matter on the tool the existing users will automatically be allowed useage (doesn't say if there are any money possibilities). There is also the possibility of storyspotters. "Storyspotters are Storybird volunteers who help us identify special stories.  If you apply to be a Storyspotter, [they] have sole discretion over whether to accept [your story]."

Zac Browser
Purpose: This browser was developed by a grandfather to a child who has autism. It is a zome for a child to interact directly with games andactivities that cater to that child's learning based on their spectrum on autism.

Educative: A child can enhance their own learning abilites at their own pace. Can support a child through low, medium or high functioning autism. The webpage best describes it because, "it takes a village to raise a child," and through this browser it can let a child exponentially grow through these games and learning experiences to successfully tackle their own circumstances.

Barriers: I don't believe any tool could remove a barrier completely, we can only hope that these tools help in any possible way a child to be progressive in their learning. This tool helps autism learners progress at their own pace and help help with behavioural problems as well.

Terms of Service: The website could inclue technical or other inaccurate or typographical errors. The browser is meant for anyone at any age, parental guidance is not advised but could be beneficial to understand your child's development progress. The terms outline, "The document may be used solely for personal, informational, non-commercial purposes...[it] may not be modified or altered in any way...any copy...must include the copyright notice above and permission notice."
