Cacoo - https://cacoo.com

Cacoo is a Web 2.0 tool that allows for the easy creation of charts and graphs by anyone who signs up for a free account with the website.

From an educational standpoint, Cacoo would be great for any K-12 class as a way to create a visual representation of data and/or statistical figures. Classes that could utilize Cacoo would include Social Studies classes, Math classes, and even Science classes. This makes the tool very usable all across the board for a wide variety of educators.

The use of Cacoo could remove learning barriers for many visual learners who learn by seeing data in graph format rather than just being read out statistics and figures of data.

Fortunetly for teachers and students alike, there is no age restriction for the users of Cacoo. Because of this, teachers of all grades and ages can utilize Cacoo to its maximum potential.

Geni - http://www.geni.com

Geni is a great Web 2.0 tool that students can use to trace their geneology and ancestory in order to determine the history of their family.

As an educational tool, Geni can be used in almost every grade as an aid to the Social Studies cirriculum. Identity is a key factor in Social Studies and knowing our heritage is an important aspect of building our identity. It can also be a useful tool when teaching about Aboriginal ancestory, or immigration and its importance for Canada.

Geni can enable students that may not have a great deal of knowledge regarding their family's heritage. Many students may have never been told the history of their family and this tool can be a great way to spark a discussion at home about the history of the students family and how they came to be living where they are today.

More good news on the age side of things. Geni has no official statement regarding how old users must be to use the website so students of all grades and ages can utilize this Web 2.0 tool!

Waveside - http://www.waveside.com/homework/index.htm/#/day/2014-11-03

Waveside is a great Web 2.0 tool that allows for students to keep track of upcoming homework assignments and due dates for all of their classes. Waveside is great because it can be used in any grade, by any ability of student.

The educational benefits of Waveside mean that students can insert all of their syllabus/course outline due dates into the website at the beginning of the term and in return they will be able to see a visual representation of when they are responsible for handing something in or completing a task at school.

This will benefit all students, but especially individuals who suffer from poor time management skills and have a difficult time keeping track of their school workload. In addition, being an online program allows students who may be on an internet capable devise to access the calendar. It can be seen from a phone, tablet, or computer device so that it can be used to its full potential.

As per the terms and conditions page, there is no age restriction on creating an account with Waveside. This allows students of all grades and ages to have access to this great program.

Conclusion

In conclusion, you have been provided with three excellent Web 2.0 tools that would make great resources in the classroom. The benefit of the tools that I have chosen is that they are marketable for students of all ages and abilities in the classroom. In addition, all can be accessed and used by parents to assist their child in doing the best that they possibly can in school.

My hope is that these tools will assist in the learning of many children and I look forward to using all three of these tools in my own classroom someday.
