Google sites allows you to create simple websites for your basic needs. Actually you can make nice looking sites or you can make very basic sites. An advantage is that you can sign in easily and conveniently with you google account and also the sites are very functional, user-friendly and easy to make and delete. They are very quick if you wish to make temporary webpages. For students starting off putting content online google sites is very easy to navigate. Terms of Service are not totally clear, but it seems similar to Edmodo that liability under the age of 13 is with parents or guardians.

Wix could be used as a collaborative website in a classroom setting, e.g. collaborative blog creation, and imbed tool from students personal webspaces elsewhere.
Wix can help reduce barriers for those students who do not like being lectured at; it is a collaborative tool for creating and sharing.
Wix terms of service require the student to be 13 years or older, so this site cannot be used by elementary age children.
