When owls are born, their feathers start out soft and fluffy. As an owl gets older, the feathers become thicker and cover the whole body.

Owls have special feathers that have very soft edges. The soft edges allow for the owl to fly quietly.

I like how the author used a picture to show us how the feathers of a baby owl look so different than an adult owl.
