Why do I need Math?

Suppose you want to buy a fish tank that is 3 feet long, 18 inches high and 1 foot wide. What will the Volume be in cubic inches? in Gallons?

How many gallons of water will it take to fill up an aquarium 3 feet by 1.5 feet by 1 foot?

to find the volume of a fish tank convert all measurements to inches. Three feet will be thirty six inches, one foot will be 12 inches and one point five feet will be eighteen inches. We multiply all three dimentions to get cubic inches. This gives us seven thousand seven hundred seventy six cubic inches. Finally we divide by two hundred thirty one cubic inches to find gallons. our answer is thirty three point six six gallons.
