A token system is where students can earn tokens for certain behaviors or accomplishments.  These tokens can be exchanged or redeemed for specific items or privileges.  In the course of one day it is possible to earn at least 5 tokens and up to 15 tokens (depending on day and activities).

Tokens are earned by:

  • being in circle when music stops (1 token)
  • being prepared for the day (1 token)
  • staying on task during class activities (1 token)
  • turning in assignments on time (1 token)
  • writing down homework daily (1 token)

Tokens can be redeemed for:

  • pencils (5 tokens)
  • pins/buttons (10 tokens)
  • free time (25 tokens)
  • one excused homework assignment (50 tokens)
  • one weekend activity of choice (500 tokens)
  • one flight in airplane (1000 tokens)

The behaviors and items for which tokens can be earned or redeemed can be modified by the teacher at any time, with the input and consent of the student.
